Soak Yo’ Oats…Overnight

IMG_5077

Oh the bitter chill of winter, how I do not like thee. I am not a fan of the kapha season. In other words: the winter. It’s cold, heavy, dull and damp. My fiery pitta self is not fond of this, not one bit. I just want to snuggle up in my warm cozy bed and dream about the summer. It also doesn’t help that I have been up working on my book until my eyes are drooping and exhausted. But I am truly having so much fun. It’s such a joy to finally give my gifts and passions the attention it deserves. 2015 is my year. And I am really really excited to share my book with all of you (stay tuned).

Sensual Chocolate Mousse

Happy New Year everyone! I love the concept that new years are an opportunity to start the first page of a new diary. It’s a blank canvas waiting to be painted with your unique masterpiece. It belongs to you. You are in control and that is absolutely fantastic.

So, a few weeks ago I had a very intimate but incredible gathering in my home and was in complete awe of the beautiful energies exchanged in my own home. I just get really giddy and excited to have people over so I can cook for them. How cheesy am I? I mean, after all food and laughter are the ways to my heart so I love to share this with the people I love. The menu that night was really all about comforting yet sexy foods. For my meat eaters I made a delightful boeuf bourguignon a la Julia Childs with creamy herbed mashed potatoes. For my veggies I made a hearty pot pie. But really the piece de la resistance was the dessert. Sultry, sensual, decadent, melt in your mouth chocolate mousse. The best part? No one realized it was vegan. WINNING!

Trusting the process

One thing that is absolutely amazing to me is how hard it is to relinquish our control over life. We have this compulsive desire to hang on to each detail, the results of our labors and even hold on for dear life to our plans.

What we don’t realize is that by letting the reins go even slightly makes way for immense opportunities for growth AND opens up the door for your life’s purpose and passion.

My friend and certified yoga teacher Kathy sat down to chat about this with me in my latest vlog.

Quinoa Minestrone Soup

I know, I know. I was trying to cut down on the amount of soup I make but now that I am in full blown cookbook testing mode, I am whipping up all sorts of goodies that bring my soul joy. This week my best friend came over to take some glamorous shots of me cooking. It was natural, silly and just plain ol’ fun. I mean, who doesn’t love having their biffle in the kitchen with them and then sharing a fabulous meal afterwards. I was able to cook freely with lots of giggles and have my bestie snap a few pics of me in the process. Needless to say, I was in my zone. You can just tell my passion lives in the kitchen.

Easy Peasy Coco’ Curry

2014-11-15 20.23.38

I don’t like to use the term “curry” loosely. Not everything swimming in a sauce in Indian cuisine is considered a curry. Look on a menu at an Indian restaurant and you won’t really find that word listed anywhere. The word to me is just not sexy even though the flavors that are born from adding curry powder to various dishes can ultimately lead to something sweet, spicy, cozy, comforting and warming. Descriptive enough for you?
