Feeling Empowered

I’ve been missing in action. I admit it. I have fallen off from writing on my blog and from sharing my many talents. I’ve almost been hibernating even though winter has yet to begin. My work life has taken over. I have taken on too much while sacrificing my wellbeing. I find myself always exhausted, yearning for the comfort of my bed and for simply lounging about. My desire to do things has slightly faded because of how mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually drained I am.

Why have I not followed my one rule? SELF CARE IS NON NEGOTIABLE! I have placed myself at the bottom of my priority list and have suffered dearly. I can feel it in my stomach and my first and second chakras (thank you yoga for helping me with this). I have felt all out of alignment.

The last month has really opened up a whole new perspective on my life. I have started taking this weekly class at Unity of NY called “You Can Heal Your Life” based off the book by Louise L. Hay ( I highly recommend this book, it is such a simple but phenomenal read). I have also made a conscious effort to take care of my physical body: going back to the gym, taking yoga at least 3 times a week and running (I’m slacking slightly-I need to get back on track). All of these changes I am making to better myself has really indicated to me that I have full power over my life. I can choose whether or not I am going to have a good day. I can choose to exude positivity.

I have made a conscious decision to be a force for good, to be positive, to be calm, rational and move out of my head and into my heart. Have you ever realized how difficult it is to stop thinking so damn much? I am so wrapped up in my thoughts at times that I completely miss the present moment. What is more precious than the gift of now? The present is continuously fleeting, why waste another moment missing it?

By wrapping myself in love and allowing myself to be a priority once again, I feel empowered. I am in control of my life. I am a priority in my life. All is well.

Peace, love, and no beef.

GK

A bottle of juice can be a more portable source of vitamins than, say, a half-eaten banana. But whenever both are viable options, pick the fruit. The fiber will fill you up, the nutrients are intact, and it still tastes like nature’s candy. Nom.
